The River Danube divides the city in two, Buda and Obuda, on the hilly side, and Pest on the flat side. On Buda side Castle Hill, (today housing the National Gallery), Gellert Hegy (Gellert Hill) with the Liberty Statue, the statue of St. Stephen (1001-1038) and the Citadella. On west side Belvaros (the downtown), the Parliament, the State Opera (an architectural splendor) and Vaci Street, where one can delight in window shopping, fine restaurants and casual cafes. There are three islands Obuda, Margaret and Csepel and dozen thermal baths complexes served by over a hundred natural springs gaining the city the title of "City of Spas".
